Additional Info:
The very highly-respected Domaine Bosquet des Papes is the preserve of the Boiron family, with a multi-generational history that stretches back to 1860 when Emmanuel Boiron first started making small investments in the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Emmanuel's grandson, Joseph, consolidated the holdings and established the domaine as Clos Chantemerle in 1936 - then his son, Maurice, added ten more hectares to the estate and Domaine Bosquet des Papes was born. The son of Maurice, Nicolas, is at the helm today.
The philosophy balances honoured tradition with embracing modernity and making the most of technical progress in order to improve the quality and longevity of the famous wines of this region, and strive to take the best possible care of the land and environment, to preserve its character for future generations of both winemakers and wine-drinkers. The belief is that a thirst for wine and a thirst for knowledge should always go hand in hand!
75% Grenache, 11% Syrah and 11% Mourvedre, with a dash of local varieties including Vaccarese and Counoise - put through a slow ferment with regular punchdowns, and then aged for up to eighteen months in large old oak barrels and demi-muids. This is an intense, silky and spicy Chateauneuf and a perfect partner for roasted meats.
