Additional Info:

The Pernand-Vergelesses 2022 is a luminous expression of Burgundy’s cooler hillside terroirs, showcasing the elegance and purity of Chardonnay in a village renowned for its mineral-driven whites. Sourced from a mosaic of lieux-dits—Les Vignes Blanches, Les Pins, and Devant Les Cloux—this cuvée reflects the character of west-facing slopes and limestone-rich soils, capturing both aromatic delicacy and dynamic energy.

Wine Characteristics:

  • Appellation: AOP Pernand-Vergelesses

  • Specific Areas: Les Vignes Blanches (45%), Les Pins (43%), Devant Les Cloux (12%)

  • Grape Variety: Chardonnay

  • Terroir: Shallow, highly calcareous soils composed of altered colluvium and silty marls. Geological subsoil of Upper Jurassic Pernand marl. West-facing parcels located mid to high slope, between 330 and 380 meters elevation.

  • Surface Area: 0.95 Ha

Vinification:

Hand-harvested with meticulous care, the grapes are transported in small crates to preserve integrity. A double sorting—first in the vineyard, then on the sorting table—ensures optimal selection. A long, gentle pressing is carried out without the use of sulfur, preserving the wine’s aromatic clarity and vibrancy. Fermentation is spontaneous, using native yeasts that reflect the vineyard’s natural microbiota. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (15% to 30% new) for 11 to 16 months, depending on vintage evolution. No fining is performed, and only a light filtration may be used if required. Bottling is guided by the lunar calendar to honor the wine’s natural rhythm.

Tasting Notes:

The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses opens with an expressive bouquet of apricot, acacia blossom, and hawthorn, lifted by a vibrant streak of fresh citrus zest. On the palate, it strikes a fine balance between roundness and energy, offering generous fruit framed by taut acidity and a stony mineral edge. The limestone soils impart a signature tension and finesse, while the wine’s aromatic brightness makes it immediately appealing. With its crystalline freshness and refined texture, this cuvée is delicious in its youth but possesses the structure and depth for graceful aging.
